Science Fiction Stories

A spaceship orbiting a planet - Illustration for science fiction stories collection

I’ve loved science fiction stories ever since I got my first library card. When I was eight, I read Have Space Suit — Will Travel by Robert Heinlein. A high school kid wins a used spacesuit in a contest and ends up being taken on a real trip through space. Not only that, he becomes more than just some smart kid – he becomes a hero. I had read stories with kid heroes before, but those were mostly fantasy, worlds of magic and wizards and other impossible things. This story felt like something that could really happen. If I studied hard enough, maybe someday I could be the one up there exploring the universe.

While I also write fantasy and horror, science fiction stories are my favorite thing to write. Even the most wild, out there stories can have a visible impact on the real world. Writers come up with a gadget to feature in a story, and that story inspires someone to become an engineer or inventor and make it a reality. Science fiction can create a brighter future, and warn us of future paths to avoid.

Whether you’re an inventor or not, I hope these stories will inspire you, move you, and change your world.
